A Meta-Analysis on Barriers to Entrepreneurship of Rural Women in Iran

Abstract

Introduction: the main purpose of the research is to explain the barriers to women's entrepreneurship in Iran by using the meta-analysis approach.

Method: The statistical population of the research is the research conducted in the period of 2012-2021 on the topic of barriers to women's entrepreneurship. 24 studies that had suitable characteristics to be included in the meta-analysis were selected by purposive sampling. In order to analyze the data, the third edition of comprehensive meta-analysis software has been used.

Findings: The research findings show that the overall effect size of women's entrepreneurship barriers in Iran is 0.481, which is evaluated as medium to high in Cohen's interpretation system. According to the findings of the research, cultural, social, economic, and background barriers are among the most important barriers to women's entrepreneurship in Iran. The effect size of cultural barriers is 0.388, social, 0.429, economic, 0.523, and contextual, 0.549. Background barriers with 0.549 have had the greatest effect on women's entrepreneurship.

Results: Based on the results of the research, Based on the results of the research, women's entrepreneurship faces many barriers including cultural, social, economic, political and contextual. These barriers have caused concern, discouragement, discouragement and ultimately women's unwillingness to engage in entrepreneurial activities as well as their non-participation in entrepreneurial activities. According to the results, removing these barriers and increasing the willingness of women in entrepreneurial activities will lead to wealth production, technology development, productivity, and training of entrepreneurs, development of entrepreneurship and promotion and improvement of the quality of life of women.
